Dear OUC
customer:
Is your
not-for-profit group looking for a fund-raiser?
At OUC, we are always looking for new ways to help promote
energy conservation and support the financial health of
not-for-profit groups in our community. This spring, OUC
is hosting a Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb (CFL)
Fundraiser — a great way to promote energy
conservation while making money for your group.
In May,
members from participating groups will take orders for
energy-saving CFL bulbs from the community. At $13.00 to
$15.00 per 3-pack, the price is comparable to what
customers would pay in a retail store. Similar to Girl
Scout Cookie sales and Sally Foster programs in local
schools, the group will earn a portion of the proceeds.
Since OUC is providing these bulbs at wholesale prices,
for each bulb sold, your not-for-profit group will keep
$2.00 per bulb or $6.00 per 3-pack. If the group sells
more than 50 bulbs, the group will also receive a special
prize.
Energy
conservation is a hot topic, and your neighbors are
searching for solutions to save energy and money. While
CFL bulbs may cost a little more, they can generate
outstanding long-term savings through reduced energy costs
and lowered replacement costs. To help get this word out,
OUC will provide fliers, posters and other collateral.
Interested? If you
or someone you know would like to learn more about this
exciting program, information and training sessions will
be held at one of OUC’s customer service centers in April
and May. For more information or to sign up for a
training session, contact OUC program coordinator
Katherine Johnson at

or call (407) 647-6124.
Sincerely,
Clint

OUC & Our
Community
Cheers
to volunteers.
OUC employees have donated more than 55,000 hours and
$200,000 to 180 community organizations since 1993.
The
benefit of our experience.
Among the many organizations that have benefited from
our volunteer efforts are: Easter Seals, Orlando Humane
Society, Second Harvest Food Bank, March of Dimes, Seniors
First (Meals on Wheels), Juvenile Diabetes, CrimeLine,
Junior Achievement, UCF Shakespeare Festival and more.
Time to
teach.
A number of OUC employees give up their lunch hour to
teach economics and other business-related subjects to
students through the Junior Achievement program. OUC also
sponsors JA’s "Our City" program, which provides economic
education to elementary students.
And the
award goes to.
OUC is a major sponsor of the annual Osceola County
Academy Awards of Education, honoring outstanding
teachers. The event provides an opportunity for the school
district and business community to join together to
recognize the special contributions of Osceola County’s
teachers. Each year, OUC presents the "Teacher of the
Year" award to one of the county’s most outstanding
educators.
It takes
a village.
OUC was the first business partner to support the
Children’s Safety Village, a joint collaboration among the
City of Orlando, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and
the Orlando Police Department. This child-sized city
teaches various aspects of safety—including street safety,
bike safety, water safety, electric safety, poisonous
plants and street danger. OUC installed a mini-electric
substation in the Village, which is used to teach about
electric safety and power lines.
